UK and Japan team up to create engine for new fighters

Work on the joint engine demonstrator will begin early next year, with the UK investing £ 30 million in planning, digital design and manufacturing innovation.

Over the next four years, the UK will invest over £ 2 billion in international efforts to develop the world’s best future combat aviation system. In parallel, as part of its FX program, Japan is seeking to develop a future fighter in a similar timeframe to replace the F-2.
