In Ujjain, action was taken to demolish more than 230 houses of Begambagh Colony built near Mahakal Temple. Under the supervision of the administration and police, the religious place Takiya Masjid was also demolished. However, mild protests were also seen during this period.

It is being told that some people had tried to pelt stones here, but the police force immediately controlled the situation and this action continued continuously. However, the administration did not confirm this. But the police said that if such an incident had happened, action would be taken.

In Begambagh Colony, 100 houses in the area were razed to the ground by 3 pm on Saturday. ADM and administrator in-charge of Mahakal temple said that it will take one to two days to complete this action. Till now the action is continuing in a peaceful manner. People themselves are vacating their houses by cooperating with the administration in this.

In fact, the major hurdle of getting the valuable land of Begambagh Colony, which was coming in the way of expansion and beautification of Mahakal temple area, has now been removed. This matter went up to the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where the court had rejected the appeal of the colony residents, but due to the case being pending in the lower courts, the administration was not able to take possession. Now after the decision came in favor of the administration from there also, the district administration along with the Municipal Corporation and the police decided to take immediate action.

Last evening, an announcement was made in the area and people were given final notice to vacate their houses. On Saturday morning, in the presence of administrative staff, the Municipal Corporation Removal Gang started attacking the houses with JCB and other machines.

Within no time the houses made of cement concrete started collapsing like cards. Along with the houses, the district administration team also demolished the religious place built here illegally. The corporation staff carried out its action amidst mild protest.

Affected people expressed protest

In this case, the affected people said that they were not even given time to vacate the house. Compensation was also equal to ten paise of one rupee. Our children have been hungry for two days, we have left them in other people’s houses. We were given notices at 8 o’clock in the night and no information was given before that. People said that 20 to 25 years have passed since they lived here.

Action regarding Mahakal public expansion

Let us tell you that this big action has been taken regarding the expansion of Mahakal Lok in the famous Jyotirlinga Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. Here, 6 JCBs of the corporation, 6 Poklanes and more than 50 employees of the encroachment removal team were deployed. Also, about 10 magistrate officers and a police force of more than 250 were present in the action.

257 houses will be demolished

Action is to be taken on a total of 257 houses in the colony situated around Takiya Masjid. The case of some of these houses is still pending in the court. Apart from this, permission has been received for action on the remaining houses. In this case, the landlords have also received compensation as per the government rules. Of these, only those with court cases have not received compensation.
