The Twitter account that tracked the private jet of Elon Musk, chief of the microblogging site Twitter, has been banned. Musk owns a Gulfstream G650ER aircraft. Musk offered to buy the account earlier this year for about $5,000. However, he was not successful in this.
Jack Sweeney, who runs @ElonJet on Twitter, is a student. They say they track its location using publicly available transponder data from Musk’s private jet. Musk offered to buy her an account, saying that it could jeopardize her security as anyone could get information about her flight. Musk said last month that his commitment to free speech is such that he has not even banned a Twitter account that tracks his aircraft, even though it is a direct threat to his personal safety.
Musk isn’t the only billionaire whose accounts Sweeney tracks. Sweeney runs more than 30 plane tracking accounts that share publicly available data. These include accounts tracking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Recently Musk has ordered Gulfstream G700, a private jet equipped with modern technology and many features. Its delivery is expected early next year. Gulfstream’s G700 is in good demand. It has a cabin length of 57 feet and a maximum range of 7,500 nautical miles. This plane can fly from Austin, USA to Hong Kong without refueling. According to the website of American aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, the G700 has the most modern and advanced technology cabin in the industry. It has two Rolls Royce engines, Wi-Fi system and 20 windows. Its price is 78 million dollars. The G700 could replace Musk’s current G650ER plane. Musk often uses private jets for travel.
