US President Donald Trump on Tuesday doubled the tariff to 50 percent on all steel and aluminum products coming from Canada. This step has been taken in response to the imposing 25 percent tariff on electricity to the US by Ontario province.
‘Canada ends tariff on dairy product’
Trump posted on his social media platform and told that he has instructed his Commerce Secretary to impose additional 25 percent tariff on these products, which will be applicable from Wednesday morning.
Trump further said, ‘Apart from this, Canada will have to immediately eliminate dairy product tariffs ranging from 250% to 390% imposed on our American farmers, which has been considered extremely more for a long time. I will soon announce the National Emergency regarding electricity in the affected area.
America-Canada face to face with tariff
Along with this, he warned that if Canada did not remove other inappropriate and long -running tariffs, then the US will ‘increase the tariff’ on Canadian cars from April 2.
Meanwhile, Ontario’s premiere Dug Ford, who has imposed an additional 25% tariff on electricity exports to the US, said on Tuesday that he would not back down until Trump ‘finished’ all the tariffs on Canada ‘forever.
