TrendForce analysts monitoring the NAND flash market believe that the average selling price of these products will decrease significantly in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the current quarter. This is due to the fact that major smartphone brands are reducing purchasing activity. At the same time, PC OEMs have been increasing orders for client SSDs since early November. By fulfilling these orders, suppliers are able to keep their inventories relatively low, which means they are not experiencing as much pressure as previously expected from lower inventories due to lower prices. Taking these factors into account, TrendForce expects the average selling price of NAND flash in the first quarter of 2022 to fall 10-15% from the previous quarter.
Prices for client SSDs will decrease by 5-10%, for corporate SSDs with PCIe interface – by 3-8%. Prices for enterprise SATA SSDs will remain the same. Prices for eMMC modules will decrease by 5-10%, for UFS modules – by 8-13%. Finally, wafer-based NAND flash prices will decline by 10-15% amid increasing supply over demand.
