New Delhi. To avoid unknown calls, most of us download Truecaller, so that it can be known who is the caller. The caller’s name comes when someone calls from the Truecaller app, and it is also known whether the call is spam or not. But now you will not need a truecaller to know the name of a caller. This is because the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will soon start work on creating a framework in which the KYC based names of the callers will appear on the ‘screen’ of the mobile.
The top official of the authority has given this information. TRAI had also received a signal from the Department of Telecommunications (Dot) to start discussions on this plan. TRAI Chairman PD Vaghela said that the discussions to prepare this framework can start in the next two months.
He said, ‘We have just got the reference and we will start working on it soon. When someone calls, his KYC based name will appear on the screen of the mobile.
work will start soon
TRAI was already considering to start work on this framework and now work will start soon with the special advice of DoT. Vaghela said, ‘This framework will enable the name of the caller to be displayed on the screen of the mobile as per the KYC done by the telecom companies as per the norms of DoT.
This mechanism will help in revealing the KYC based identity of the callers and will bring more accuracy and transparency than some apps that show the identity or name of the callers.
When asked whether the process will be kept voluntary, sources said it is too early to say anything on this as there are many aspects to be discussed at the consultation level.
