Toyota Innova Highcross Driving Impressions
The Toyota Innova Highcross is offered with two powertrains in India. The regular 2.0-litre petrol model produces 172 Bhp of power and 205 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a CVT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
Other powertrain options include a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle engine that produces 150 Bhp and 187 Nm of peak torque. With the help of an electric motor, this engine generates 111 bhp power and 206 Nm torque. The powertrain is mated to an E-CVT gearbox. Toyota has limited the peak power output to 186 bhp.
We found the power delivery to be much better in the new Innova Hycross Hybrid. The Hycross features a new monocoque setup, which has made it much lighter than its predecessor and allows it to cruise on the highway at higher speeds with ease.
The new Innova Highcross comes with a softer suspension setup that allows it to soak up the impact of potholes on the road with ease and makes long journeys comfortable. Good NVH levels are available inside the cabin.
However, the new Hycross gets bodyroll at the corners despite the new monocoque frame. This is because of the soft suspension setup which increases body roll at higher speeds.
The Innova Highcross also has decent levels of revs, which can be tweaked with the help of paddle shifters and is combined with all-wheel disc brakes.
