Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its new MPV Toyota Innova Hycross in India. Innova Highcross price starts at Rs 18.30 Lakh – Rs 28.97 Lakh (ex-showroom).

The Toyota Innova Highcross is offered in a total of five variants – G, GX, VX, ZX and ZX (O). These include the G and GX petrol variants, while the VX, ZX and ZX(O) are the strong hybrid variants. The bookings for the Innova Highcross are already underway at a token amount of Rs 50,000 and will be sold alongside the Innova Crysta.

Toyota Innova Highcross: How is the design?

Although the new Innova Highcross is an MPV but its look is like an SUV. In this, Toyota has given it an SUV-like design with a large grille, a high bonnet line and body cladding all around. Its hexagonal grille is given a chrome surround at the bottom. It gets wraparound LED headlamps, matte silver inserts in the bumper and horizontal daytime running lamps that also act as turn indicators.

While it looks like an SUV from the front, its side profile resembles that of an MPV. Like the Innova Crysta, the Hycross too gets a large glasshouse, which provides good visibility for all three rows of seats. At the rear, it gets a roof mounted spoiler, LED tail-lights and blacked-out rear bumper.

On the inside, the Highcross is completely different from the Crysta. It gets a large 10.1-inch floating touchscreen with a multi-layered dashboard that stands out. Rectangular AC vents and HVAC controls are provided on the dashboard.

The dashboard gets soft-touch leather and metallic decorations. The gear lever is mounted on the dashboard itself. The higher variants of the MPV get dual-tone brown and black interior theme with dark chestnut leather seat upholstery, while the lower variants get black fabric upholstery.

Toyota Innova Highcross: Seating Configuration

When it comes to the seating configuration, the Innova Highcross gets 7- and 8-seat layouts. The 7-seat configuration gets two captain seats with segment-first ottoman function for the middle row. On the other hand, the 8-seat layout gets bench seats for both the second and third rows. Toyota is providing three-point seatbelts for all passengers.

Toyota Innova Highcross: Engine

The Innova Hycross gets petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options, but misses out on a diesel engine. The strong-hybrid powertrain is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit. The hybrid powertrain produces 184 bhp combined with the E-Drive transmission.

The non-hybrid variant, on the other hand, gets a 1,987cc petrol engine that generates 172 Bhp power and 205 Nm torque. It is mated to a CVT gearbox. Both the configurations of the Innova Highcross are front-wheel drive only and do not get a manual transmission option. Toyota claims a mileage of 23.24kpl for the hybrid Innova Highcross, while the non-hybrid model offers a mileage of 16.13kpl.
