A tourist group from Delhi took their Mahindra Thar SUV to the middle of the holy river Ganga in Haridwar to wash it. Haridwar is considered a religious and spiritual place, where lakhs of people come every year. Whereas Ganga is considered the most sacred river of the country.
In such a situation, some tourists from Delhi took their car to the middle of this river and started washing it. Seeing this act of his, people got very angry and informed the police about this. Uttarakhand Police has challaned a total of six people for washing cars in the Ganges.
Locals informed the police that some youths were washing their SUVs in Neel Dhara area of river Ganga. Soon after this, the police reached the spot and issued challans against these people under operation ‘Maryada’.
Along with this, the police have seized the vehicle and will release the vehicle only when the legal process is completed. Operation Maryada was launched in July 2021, under which action is taken against people who disrespect religious places.
Under this operation, a team of 10 policemen is stationed at every ghat of the Ganges. If any person is found violating the rules then strict action is taken against them. Many tourists are also caught in this situation.
Mahindra Thar is an SUV that goes smoothly even on rough roads. In such a situation, many people take Thar to hilly areas and pass through rivers and drains. These tourists did the work of washing cars without taking care of the holy river like Ganga.
Coming to the Mahindra Thar, it comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 150 Bhp power and 320 Nm torque. It is also powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 130 bhp power and 300 Nm torque.
