It is reported that the novelty is planned to be used when equipping a combat helicopter being developed as part of the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) project. The gun, named General Dynamics XM915, received three barrels at once, as well as an electric drive to power them.
The rate of fire of the gun is 1500 rounds per minute, which is almost 1.5 times more effective than the existing single-barreled counterparts.
Recall that for the first time the development of General Dynamics XM915 became known in March 2021. Then our colleagues from Popular Mechanics wrote that using this model, American helicopters will be able to hit lightly armored vehicles.
It was also reported that Northrop Grumman is developing an analogue of the XM915.
