Similarly, in Windows 11 will soon appear its own integrated technology upscaling Super Resolution.
Its existence was discovered in an insider update of Windows 11 24H2, which will be released later this year.
The corresponding point is located in the screen settings and marked as Automatic Super Resolution, that is, the function will work automatically. The description says that the function will use AI to increase performance in games, but will also work in applications.
And if with games everything is approximately clear — it may be analogous to the program technology AMD RSR — then how it will work with applications and why such technology is needed there, is not yet clear. What comes to mind are media players, as Nvidia and AMD already have software for video resolution enhancement.
The new Windows function will work on those systems where the processors have NPU hardware blocks. Probably, it will be possible to implement and tensor cores in GeForce RTX.
