Mobile Tariff Update: Reliance Jio, the country’s largest telecom company, has made such a postpaid mobile tariff bet, which is going to increase the challenge of other telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. Reliance Jio was the biggest player in the pre-paid segment, but the company is now preparing to increase its presence in the post-paid segment. Reliance Jio has launched its new postpaid family plan which starts at Rs 399. And in this, Rs 99 will have to be paid for each separate connection. That is, for four members in the family, a tariff of Rs 699 will have to be paid every month.
Reliance Jio’s new postpaid tariff plan is 30 percent cheaper than its other competitors. After this move of Reliance Jio, the pressure on other telecom operators to launch similar plans may increase. Otherwise their customers can get scattered. In such a situation, the tariff war can start again. Reliance Jio is the biggest player in the pre-paid mobile segment. The company gets the maximum revenue from pre-paid customers. But in the post-paid mobile category, Rijo is far behind its rival companies.
Due to the new post-paid tariff plan of Reliance Jio, there may be a break on the possibility of increasing the mobile tariff for the time being. Recently, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal had indicated to increase mobile tariffs. He had said that the mobile tariff may increase in the middle of this year. Actually companies have invested a lot in 5G telecom service. And for the return on capital investment, the companies were preparing to increase the tariff. But the competition is going to increase with the new post-paid plan of Reliance Jio. After which there is doubt on increasing the tariff.
The effect of Reliance Jio’s launch of cheap post-paid plans was also seen on the shares of Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea on Wednesday. Due to this news, pressure was seen in the shares of both the telecom companies. Bharti Airtel shares closed at Rs 756.55, down 1.96 per cent, while Vodafone Idea shares closed at Rs 6.40, down 2.29 per cent.
