Maruti Suzuki has remained the number-1 car company in India for the last two decades. Talking about the sales figures, no other company has been able to beat Maruti so far. However, the battle is on between Hyundai India and Tata Motors to become the second largest car company in India.
Talking about the sales for the month of November last year, Hyundai sold 48,003 units of cars in India while Tata Motors also managed to improve the sales figures by selling 46,037 passenger vehicles.
While Hyundai Motors saw a growth of 29.73% in sales as compared to November 2021, Tata Motors saw a jump of 54.60% in sales. Hyundai Motors continues to hold a strong position in the market in India with subcompact SUVs like Venue and Creta. At the same time, small SUVs like Nexon and Punch of Tata Motors are also being liked by the customers.
The Nexon has remained the top selling sub-compact SUV in India for the past few months. At the same time, Punch’s name has also been added to the best-selling top-5 SUVs along with Tata Nexon. On the other hand, Hyundai Venue and Creta have been maintaining the sales graph of the company.
After petrol-diesel and electric, Tata Motors is now focusing on CNG vehicles as well. The company recently launched the Tata Tiago NRG CNG in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, the carmaker had also launched the CNG versions of Tiago and Tigor in January.
According to some reports, Tata Motors is preparing to bring the Altroz in an electric version. It is being claimed that the electric version of Altroz will be launched next year.
At present, the electric lineup of Tata Motors includes cars like Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV. Tata Motors is at the forefront of selling electric cars in the Indian market.
