Diesel cars are known to give better mileage and power than petrol cars. Here we will tell you about some such diesel cars, which can be launched in India in the coming few months.
1. Toyota Hilux
Toyota Hilux was introduced in India on 20 January this year. It is a pick-up SUV that will be made available with a price range of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre D-4D turbocharged diesel engine. This engine generates 201 bhp power and 500 newton meter torque. It has a choice of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Toyota Hilux will be made available in India in a 4X4 drivetrain. It is equipped with features like Electronic Differential Lock, Traction Control System and ABS-EBD. In India, it will compete with the Isuzu V-Cross pick-up.
2. Jeep Meridian
Jeep India will launch the Jeep Meridian in India in May this year. According to the information, the Jeep Meridian is the diesel version of the Jeep Compass that will be offered with some minor updates. The car will also be made available with a petrol engine and all-wheel drive option.
Talking about the engine, the Jeep Meridian has been given a 2.0-litre multi-jet diesel engine similar to the Compass SUV. This engine generates 173 bhp power and 350 newton meter torque. Jeep Meridian is available with a choice of 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic gearbox.
3. Hyundai Creta 2022
The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift is being sold in select markets. This mid-size SUV can be launched in India on the occasion of Diwali this year. The new Creta SUV is powered by a 1.5 CRDi diesel engine. This engine generates maximum power of 114 bhp and peak torque of 250 Newton meter. It can be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
Talking about the price, the 2022 Hyundai Creta can be made available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. Post launch, it will take on Kia Seltos, Suzuki S-Cross, Skoda Kushak, Volkswagen Tigon and MG Aster.
4. Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai may launch the fourth generation model of the Tucson in India in the next few months. The new generation model of the Hyundai Tucson will have a completely new design. The company will offer it with a parametric grille. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will be capable of generating 182 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The SUV will be offered with a 4-wheel drive system and a hybrid powertrain option.
5. Mahindra Scorpio
Road testing of the new generation Mahindra Scorpio has started. Recently, information about its testing model has been revealed. The new generation Scorpio has a completely new exterior and interior design. It has a new design front grille, headlamps and side panels. According to the information, the new Scorpio will be given a larger touchscreen infotainment system, vertical such vents and some of the features of the XUV700.
A 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine has been used to power the new generation. This engine generates power of 155 bhp and torque of 360 Newton meter. All-wheel drive system can also be given in select variants.
