5G network has started in India and now smartphone brands are preparing their old smartphones for this next generation high-speed cellular network through updates. The latest announcement comes from the Chinese brand OnePlus, which has informed that OnePlus smartphones launched after 2020 now support 5G connectivity in India. This includes 5G services offered by both Airtel and Jio telecom operators.
OnePlus has announced that all 5G compatible smartphones launched by the company from 2020 onwards will now support 5G services from Jio and Airtel. Both the telecom operators started their 5G service in October last year and are yet to gradually expand it to all regions of the country. Both the operators have currently rolled out this service in select cities.
Now there is good news for OnePlus users that their 5G smartphone (Launched after 2020) will now support 5G networks, but they will need to be present in areas with 5G networks to enjoy 5G. It is also to be noted that Vodafone Idea (Vi) has not launched its 5G network, so those running Vi sim on OnePlus ks 5G phone will not get 5G facility for the time being.
OnePlus says that it has worked with telecom operators to support and unlock 5G on its devices. The good thing is that 5G support has also started on Nord branding smartphones, in which OnePlus Nord, nord 2, nord 2t, Nord CE, Nord CE 2 And Nord CE 2 Lite Are included. In addition, supported devices include flagship OnePlus 10 Proas well as 10T and 10R OnePlus 9 Pro9, 9RT, 9R, OnePlus 88 Pro and 8T are also included.
“We are thrilled to join hands with India’s leading telecom operators to bring transformative 5G technology to our Indian community,” Navneet Nakra, CEO of OnePlus India and Head of OnePlus India Region, said in the press statement.
