There’s something behind this: Scientists have discovered a strange increase in hurricanes in the North Atlantic

Researchers have recreated climate models of the frequency and intensity of hurricanes and tropical cyclones around the world over the past several centuries. Added to the results were historical records showing an increased number of storms in the North Atlantic over the past 150 years.

In the new study, scientists have recreated three different climate models in the past, combining it with a hurricane model that tracks tropical storms and their trajectories. All of this showed a clear increase in hurricanes in the North Atlantic 150 years ago. In addition, thanks to research, it turned out to detect a “hurricane drought” of the 70s and 80s of the last century, when the number of storms decreased. Scientists attribute this to the cooling of the Atlantic. However, the reasons for the increased activity of hurricanes are still unknown.
