These users generate 90% of the company’s global revenue.

New Delhi. Users who tweet continuously on Twitter are no longer as active as before. There has been a decline in the interest of users who use the site regularly. This information has reportedly come to the fore from an internal document handpicked by Reuters. In the document, users who log into the site every day and tweet three to four times weekly are defined as heavy tweeters.

These heavy tweeters are a small but important part of social media site users. Such users generate 90% of the company’s global revenue. According to the information, the decline in the activity of Heavy tweeter started during the epidemic. At present, it is not clear where these users are going and why.

Heavy Tweeters is changing the interest of users
Heavy Tweeters typically disable their accounts and those who remain active tend to topics Twitter is not traditionally known for. According to a Reuters report, users’ interest in popular topics such as news, sports and entertainment has decreased. Apart from this, Twitter is also losing out on heavy Tweeters interested in fashion and celebrities.

Where are Heavy Tweeters going?
A Twitter research says that the decline in users interested in topics like fashion and celebrities can be attributed to Instagram and TikTok. Previously, e-sports and streaming personality were growing areas of interest among Heavy Tweeters users. Now, their activity is probably moving towards video-friendly websites such as Twitch, YouTube and TikTok.

News activities are shifting on Tiktok
Earlier Twitter used to be a platform to follow breaking news. However, it may come as a surprise to know that the activities around the news are now shifting to Tiktok as well. The Pew Research Center published a study this week, showing that Americans get most of the news from Tiktok.

tripled the number
The report states that the share of Americans receiving news from TikTok has tripled in just two years. This number was 3% in 2020, which increased to 10% in 2022. However, there is not enough evidence to conclude that Twitter users are turning to TikTok for news.

Users are getting news on Tiktok
According to the study, 26% of Americans say that they regularly get news on TikTok. This number is higher than in previous years. One-third of Americans who use TikTok say they regularly get news on the site. Conversely, news consumption on other social media sites has declined or remains the same. For the time being it will be interesting to see if Twitter does anything in response to the alleged drop in activity of heavy tweeters.
