The world’s first folding electric car City Transformer CT1 changes in width by almost half a meter

The folding electric car CT-1, created by the Israeli startup City Transformer, has received permission to appear on public roads. It was shown in September 2021 at the Munich Motor Show, and now it has become known that sales will begin in 2024.

The car will be offered at a price of 16 thousand euros, but when pre-ordering a folding mini-electric car, the owner will cost 3.5 thousand euros cheaper. When applying, a deposit of 150 euros is requested.

The main feature of the car is the change in body width, which makes the CT-1 an excellent choice for residents of large cities with narrow streets and crowded parking lots. It will drive and park where the tiny Smart can’t. In a compact state, the width of the body is 1000 mm, but while driving, the width can increase by almost one and a half times – up to 1480 mm.

Wheels with protective wings extend from the body for greater stability. Despite its compact dimensions, the CT-1 offers a two-seater saloon (seats arranged one by one) with air conditioning and airbags. A small electric motor will allow you to accelerate to 90 km / h. The power reserve will be 180 km. The curb weight is only 590 kg.

Also, the car received only 1.5 thousand structural elements, while in an ordinary passenger car there are more than 10 thousand of them.
