The unopened iPhone set a record: it was bought at a much higher price than expected

An unopened first-generation iPhone was sold at the LCG (London Capital Group) Auctions 2022 Fall Auction for a much higher price than planned.

The auction was held from September 30 to October 16, 2022. The starting price was $2,500, the organizers expected to receive about $30,000, but the final bid was almost $40,000 ($39,339.60).

This iPhone has retained the original packaging with polyethylene, the barcodes and other information on the box are also perfectly preserved.

In August, we reported that a similar lot was sold at another auction for $35,000.
