The unemployment rate in urban areas declined to 7.2% from July to September, compared to 9.8% a year ago.

Unemployment Rate In India: Big news related to unemployment has come out across the country. The National Statistics Department (NSO) has released the data related to unemployment. According to which the unemployment rate for persons aged 15 years and above in urban areas has come down to 7.2 percent on an annual basis in July-September, 2022. It is known that a year ago in 2021, the unemployment rate was 9.8 percent during the same period. Unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of persons unemployed among the labor force.

According to the 16th Labor Force Survey (PLFS), the unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above for April-June 2022 in urban areas stood at 7.6 per cent. According to the survey, the unemployment rate among women (aged 15 years and above) in urban areas has come down to 9.4 per cent in July-September, 2022. Which was 11.6 percent in the same period a year ago. Also, during April-June, 2022, the same figure was 9.5 percent. At the same time, the unemployment rate of men in urban areas decreased to 6.6 percent in July-September 2022 as compared to 9.3 percent a year ago. It was 7.1 percent in April-June 2022.
