The UN Secretary General said that 700 children under the age of five die every day from diseases caused by unsanitary conditions. He called for immediate investment in the construction of normal toilets. “The realization of this basic human right – the right to water and sanitation – benefits people, businesses and our planet,” said the Secretary General.
The UN has calculated that every dollar invested in toilets and sanitation brings in up to $ 5 in profit. People are saving on health care costs, health and education systems are being strengthened, productivity is increasing, and more jobs are being created.
