The shadow magic of the Tata Nexon with 312km mileage, No. 1 in June 2022

The demand for the sale of electric vehicles has increased significantly in recent months. The sales of electric two wheelers have seen a significant increase in June 2022 and the sales of electric cars have also seen an increase in the last month. Rising fuel costs and several subsidies given by the Indian government on the purchase of electric vehicles have played a significant role in this.

Electric cars sales stood at 3,089 units in June 2022, a growth of 303.26 per cent as against just 766 units sold in June 2021. Month-on-month sales improved by 8.20 per cent from 2,855 units sold in May 2022. Topping the electric car sales chart was the Tata Nexon/Tigor. These sales increased by 365.46 per cent to 2,709 units from 582 units sold in June last year, a profit of around 2,127 units.

Top 10 Electric Cars June 2022

Nexon and Tigor have 87.70 percent market share in Tata’s electric cars. Sales from May 2022 stood at 2,495 units with a month-on-month growth of 8.58 percent. The MG ZS EV at number two grew by 45 per cent year-on-year to 232 units in June 2022, up from 160 units sold in June 2021. ZS EV has a market share of 7.51 percent. Month-on-month sales declined by 6.07 per cent from 247 units sold in May 2022.

Hyundai Kona Electric sales grew by 333.33 percent in the last month to 52 units, which is 40 units more than the 12 units sold in June 2021. Kona EV has a market share of 1.68 percent. BYD e6 is a recent addition to this list. It was at number four with sales of 48 units in the last one month. This was a 14.29 per cent month-on-month increase from 42 units sold in May 2022.

Mahindra eVerito’s company has sold 20 units in the last month, which is a growth of 150 percent year on year, as the company sold 8 units in June last year. Audi etron sold only 1 unit in June 2021 and last month the company sold 14 units with a growth of 1300 percent year-on-year. Which is a 75 percent growth month on month as against 8 units sold in May 2022. At the same time, with 5 sales, the BMW iX/i4 has seen a decline of 44.44 percent on a month-on-month basis, as the company sold 9 units in May 2022.

The sales of Porsche Taycan and Jaguar i-Pace stood at 3 units in June 2022. Porsche Taycan sales declined 40 per cent month-on-month from 5 units sold in May 2022, while Jaguar i-Pace sales were down 57.14 per cent from 7 units sold in May 2022. Mercedes EQC sold 1 during this period, while there was a 50 percent annual decline in comparison to 2 units sold in June 2021. Month-on-month sales declined by 80 per cent as against 5 units sold in May 2022. The other electric car maker sold 2 units in June 2022 which is a 100% month-on-month growth over 1 unit sold in May 2022.
