The name of the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS) may be changed after the design is completed. This was stated by Director General of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov.
“While in our internal documents we use this name [РОСС]. Perhaps, after the design is completed, the national station will be renamed.Borisov said.
Yuri Borisov also said that the amount of necessary funding, as well as the timing of the deployment of the orbital station, will be clear after the completion of its preliminary design. He recalled that at the moment the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, by order of the state corporation, is conducting preliminary design of the ROSS. “It should be completed before the end of 2023, after which the appearance of the station, the parameters of the orbit, the amount of funding needed to create it, as well as possible deployment times will become clear.“, Borisov said.
According to the head of Roskosmos, with the results of preliminary design, the state corporation will go to the government.
