The State Duma at a meeting on Wednesday introduced into the legislation a norm on the creation of a Russian mobile application store. This provision is contained in the bill adopted by the deputies in the third, final reading on strengthening the protection of personal data of Russians. It is planned to create a Russian application store, which will be mandatory pre-installed on technical devices. That is for smartphones and tablets.
Earlier, the government of the Russian Federation submitted to the State Duma a separate bill on the creation of a Russian application store.. But, as Alexander Khinshtein, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, explained to reporters, an amendment to create a Russian mobile app store was included in the bill on strengthening the protection of personal data of Russians for faster consideration in the Duma.
The domestic analogue of Google Play has already been created and is working – this is RuStore. It was created by VK under the patronage of the Ministry of Digital Development. Everyone can already install this catalog of applications on their smartphones.
