The head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov, spoke this week at the educational marathon of the Knowledge Society. During his speech, he spoke about the features of the promising domestic Amur-SPG rocket. According to him, the first stage of the rocket can be used more than 50 times.
“A new innovative engine that will allow for over 50, maybe even 100 restarts of the first stage“, – he said and added that work on the new rocket is going at a “good pace”.
At the moment, the most reused rocket is the SpaceX Falcon 9: restarting its stage a dozen times is a common thing. But Roskosmos, apparently, wants to go further.
The design of Amru LNG has been underway since 2020. It should be a two-stage rocket, in the first stage of which it is planned to use RD-0169 engines running on oxygen and methane. And next year, Roscosmos plans to restart work on a super-heavy rocket, which is planned to be used in lunar missions.
