Today we wrote about the AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX APU – it will lead the new line of AMD mobile APUs. The official premiere of Ryzen 6000 (Rembrandt) is expected next week, but the flagship of the series has already appeared in a live photo.
The picture shows the motherboard of the Alienware m17 R5 laptop, which will receive the top-end AMD APU of the new generation, reaching a frequency of 5.0 GHz. On the board, it is located slightly to the right of the center, behind it is the power supply subsystem, numbering five phases. The APU Rembrandt is represented by the FP7, which is the same size as the FP6 (25 x 35 mm). The crystal size will be approximately 206-208 mm2… In this particular case, the APU has 8 cores and supports 16 threads. It is equipped with a RAM controller with support for DDR5 RAM and a PCIe 4 bus controller. There is also an integrated AMD Radeon 680M graphics core on the RDNA 2 architecture.
Reportedly, the Alienware m17 R5 in the top configuration will receive not only the Ryzen 9 6980HX, but also the latest Radeon RX 6850M XT 3D accelerator with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. We already wrote about him today.… However, the photo shows another GPU – RX 6700M with 10 GB of GDDR6 memory, which is easy to understand from the five memory chips around the GPU.
The uniqueness of this photo is that we see the APU for the first time before the announcement. Considering that talking about a mobile platform is a rarity. Moreover, even after laptops based on the Rembrandt APU go on sale, not all users will be able to see them already while using the finished device: this is more the lot of repairmen and warranty service workers, and not ordinary people.
