The Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Communications Network, subordinated to Roskomnadzor, will create a national system to counter DDos attacks in Russia. Such a resource may appear before the end of 2024, said the director of the Center Sergey Khutortsev.
“We plan to expand the capabilities of our TSPU system – an active countermeasures system – for DDoS attacks, to create a global national system for countering DDoS attacks. Recent events have again shown that we are already coping with this function quite effectively. But it is necessary to provide deeper monitoring and reflection of more complex, specific attacks.”, he said at the Spektr-2022 forum. In the presentation presented by Khutortsev, the deadline for creating the system is 2024.
In addition, according to the plans of the center, a system for monitoring the quality of communication services will be created in the near future. “We are planning to create a system for monitoring the quality of communication services, taking into account the means that we have. This is a story about when operators say that they are the first in terms of Internet speed and quality of communication services. With the equipment that we have, we can make an objective analysis of whether this is true or not, in the context of different regions, cities, and so on.“, – added Khutortsev.
Since spring, the Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Communications Network (TsMU SSOP) has been able to repel 40 significant DDoS attacks on Russian telecom operators and important information resources. In addition, 29 operational instructions were sent to telecom operators about identified threats, more than six thousand violations of traffic routing were eliminated.
