Jio, Airtel and VI (Vodafone Idea) telecom companies are going to give a new feature to Indian mobile users soon, named New Caller Name Presentation (CNAP). With the help of this feature, mobile users will be able to see the name of the callers coming from the unknown number without any third party app. Till now these services used to provide apps like Truecaller. This information has been received from the reports of Live Mint.
Telecom operators have partnered with some vendors, which will provide essential servers and software to telecom companies. The reports quoted sources as saying that telecom companies have partnered for this with HP, Dell, Ericsson and Nokia.
What is Cnap?
CNAP is actually a supplementary service, which aims to improve caller identification. Under this service, if a users get a call from an unknown number, then his verified name will also be seen along the number on the mobile display. Under the CNAP service, users will be shown the same name, in whose name the SIM card has been issued.

TRAI has already said to bring CNAP
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of the Government of India was given a record for CNAP for the first time in February 2024, which said that this feature will be rolled out in different. Spam calls have to be controlled with the help of CNAP.
DOT has also been done in recandation
According to old reports, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has already told the telecom operators that the CNAP service should be implemented as soon as possible. Under this, it is to curb scam and spam calls.
Mobile manufactures have also brought these features
Let us tell you that TRAI ordered in the year 2022 that the manufacturer would have to provide the CNAP feature, after which many mobile manufacturers issued this service.
