In view of environmental pollution, the Indian Air Force has inducted a batch of Tata Nexon EVK into its fleet. The objective behind this is to help take forward the green mobility initiative of the government.
Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhary flagged off the first batch of 12 electric vehicles to be inducted into the Indian Air Force fleet in the presence of other senior officers and staff. Let us know that the price of this EV starts from Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The force is planning to replace the old vehicles with electric vehicles in its fleet. The IAF is also planning to enhance the ecosystem of e-vehicles at various force bases with the setting up of charging infrastructure. The first batch of electric cars will be deployed at the Delhi unit for performance testing.
IAF has joined hands with the Indian Army to procure electric buses and electric cars. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) said that all are focusing on electric vehicles. The infrastructure at the airports is getting ready fast. The move is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of moving towards electric mobility. The organization aims to achieve 100% target to switch to electric vehicles by 2030.
AAI initially inducted 10 electric vehicles for official use at its corporate and regional headquarters in New Delhi, while at AAI airport locations across the country through direct purchase from original equipment manufacturers/hiring for airside operations. A total of 45 e-vehicles were engaged in the offices.
