International Data Corporation (IDC) has published the latest statistics on the global wearables market: smart watches, physical activity trackers, smart glasses, audio devices and other gadgets are taken into consideration.
According to the results of the fourth quarter of last year, the total shipments of products of these types reached 171.0 million pieces. This is a 10.8% increase compared to the result for the last quarter of 2020, when shipments were 154.3 million units. Thus, analysts say, a new record has been set.
The leader is Apple, which controls more than a third of the global industry – 34.9%. In second place, far behind, is Xiaomi: the company’s result was 8.6%. Closes the top three Samsung with an indicator of 7.9%. In addition, the top five included Huawei and Imagine Marketing – 6.7% and 5.4%, respectively. All other suppliers together account for 36.6% of the industry.

The annual market volume reached 533.6 million pieces. This is 20.0% more than in 2020, when shipments were 444.7 million units. The top five vendors are as follows: Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei and Imagine Marketing with shares of 30.3%, 10.2%, 9.0%, 8.0% and 5.0%, respectively.
