“The dealership business will gradually take on Chinese colors, which, of course, is demotivating.” The head of Avtodom is sure that Russian dealers will gradually switch to selling Chinese cars

Sooner or later, Russian car dealers will be forced to reorient themselves to selling cars from China. This idea was expressed by Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of Avtodom Group of Companies.

“The dealer business will gradually take on Chinese colors, which, of course, is demotivating. No matter how wide choice our eastern partners have, these cars practically do not have their own identity, because their history goes back about 10, about 20 years, which is not quite comparable with brands from Europe and Japan.”Olkhovsky said.

In his opinion, auto retail in Russia will go through 3-4 stages of transformation, each of which will be based on external and internal factors: exchange rates, the solvency of the population, inflation, the key rate of the Bank of Russia and other influences on the market.

Entry into new markets for dealers is still difficult, Olkhovsky believes, the problem is the lack of new niches that could be occupied by domestic companies. Another criterion that will hinder the international activity of dealers from Russia is a Russian passport.

“Nothing will change in relation to Russia if you open or buy a dealer center, for example, in Kazakhstan. If the shareholder of the company is with a Russian passport, then all suppliers from Europe and other countries will close contracts quickly enough. Of course, it is possible to conduct business through proxies, but this is always associated with other issues and risks. Plus, the market of neighboring countries is much smaller in total than the Russian market.”– said the head of the Avtodom Group of Companies.
