The cost of the PlayStation VR2 VR headset for PS5 has been announced – it will be more expensive than the console itself

Sony has announced that the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset for PS5 will go on sale on February 22, 2023. At the same time, sales of the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller for it, as well as a branded charging station, will begin.

The headset will cost $549.99. The set will include the headset itself, controllers and regular headphones. If you pay extra $ 50 on top, then the bundle will include the game Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The charging station will be sold separately for $49.99. With its help, it will be possible to charge the controller without connecting it with a cable to the console. However, you can do without it. As for pre-orders, they will be accepted from September 15 in the PlayStation online store, and registration for this is available today.

The headset will receive a 4K display with a frequency of 90-120 Hz, a viewing angle of 110 degrees and support for foveal rendering. This technology allows you to calculate the image with maximum quality only along the line of sight, while at the periphery it will not be so clear. You will need a USB-C cable to connect your headset.

About 20 games will be available on release, including a VR version of Man’s Sky and Resident Evil Village. But games with a regular PS VR will be incompatible with the new model. This is due to a number of technical differences between the PlayStation VR2 and the first version.

Earlier it was reported about the release of gloves, which let you feel virtual objects.
