Alawar, a developer, distributor and publisher of popular games, announced the imminent closure of the digital platform with games. This will happen on June 1, 2023, 20 years after the start of its work.
The company noted that they made a “difficult decision” to close the site, after June 1, it will no longer be possible to buy games on the Alawar website. The reasons for this decision are not reported, however, it seems that the point is to reduce the popularity of the gaming section.
“All game activation keys will be active until June 01, 2023. Hurry up to activate games before June 01, 2023. New subscriptions cannot be purchased and existing subscriptions cannot be renewed for a new term right now,” the company said.
After the end of sales on the site, the game will be available for purchase from partners on the Steam platform. Currently, 116 games from Alawar are available there.
Note that Alawar games were released on PC, smartphones and consoles. The company was founded in 1999 by students of Novosibirsk State University
