Spiders Studio, the authors of the popular Greedfall, got in touch and talked about the details of Greedfall II: The Dying World being in early access. There are some things that absentee fans should know in advance.
According to the authors, Greedfall II is much larger and more ambitious than the first part, and therefore will first go into early access following the example of Baldur’s Gate III – gamers will have access to the “full start of the game,” but it is still completely unclear how many hours of playthrough this will be. However, Spiders warns that you will have to replay this beginning more than once, because complex patches will break user saves.
As for the very need for early access, the creators of Greedfall II are very worried about the combat system. According to them, it is strikingly different from the first part and will become much more tactical, and players will have control over their party members. Since the authors have not done such mechanics before, they want to look at feedback from gamers to understand what aspects need improvement.
Greedfall II: The Dying World will be released in Early Access in the summer of 2024. It is still unknown when the full version will be released: this could happen within a year or two or three years.
