The AMD processor turned out to be more profitable than top video cards for mining

Against the background of the rapid growth of Bitcoin, there is again an increased interest in cryptocurrencies and mining. And suddenly it turned out that this does not require a powerful video card at all, since the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor demonstrates the best results.

AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors based on the Zen 4 architecture turned out to be the best and, in fact, the only consumer option for mining some cryptocurrencies, like Qubic, using AVX2 or AVX512 instructions. By comparison, Intel dropped support for AVX512 in its consumer processors because people were buying Core processors from the company instead of more expensive Xeon chips.

It is estimated that the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor (TDP 170 W) when mining the Qubic coin (QBIC) generates a profit of almost $3 per day, taking into account electricity costs. For comparison, the 3.5 times more expensive NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 video card with a power consumption of 450 W generates a maximum profit of $1.7–1.9 when mining PYI and NEX cryptocurrencies.
