Telegram grew to a record high in Russia amid falling YouTube and Twitter

Analytical company Brand Analytics has published fresh statistics on Russian-language social media platforms.

As it turned out, from February to October 1, 2022, as a result of blocking foreign social networks, the number of daily active authors in Telegram increased by more than one and a half times, namely by 58%. According to analysts, this is a record growth among all social platforms.

Telegram grew to a record high in Russia amid falling YouTube and Twitter

The growth of daily published content in Telegram is also a record – plus 24%. Telegram is currently a key source of up-to-date news information. In addition to the popular messenger, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki also showed growth.

At the same time, Youtube remains the main platform with video content for Russian-speaking users. The ban on monetization did not affect the activity of authors (513 thousand, 10%) and the volume of content (893 thousand, 13%), since the platform is also used for news content and information.
