Talking about the Tata Tigor CNG model, it is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 86 Bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque in petrol mode and 73 Bhp and 95 Nm of torque in CNG mode. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It gets a 35-litre petrol fuel tank and a 10-litre CNG tank.
Talking about the Tata Tigor EV model, it is powered by a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack with PMS electric motor that delivers 75bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. It gets a single speed auto gearbox. It has a charging port on the side and can be charged from AC charger and DC charger at home or office.
Mileage and Range
Tata Tigor CNG gives mileage of 26.8 km/kg thereby providing a range of 268 km. Due to this the running cost per km of Tiago CNG works out to Rs 2.93 and the average running cost of 50 km is Rs 146.
On the other hand, the Tata Tigor EV offers a range of 306 km, due to which the running cost per km of the Tiago EV comes to Rs 1.57 and the average running cost of 50 km is just Rs 79.
Talking about the price of Tata Tigor CNG, it is available at a starting price of Rs 7.40 Lakh which goes up to Rs 8.84 Lakh for the top model. Talking about the Tigor EV, its starting price is Rs 12.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 13.46 lakh for the top model. There is a difference of up to Rs 4.8 lakh in the price of the top model of both.
The government of many states provides discounts on registration of EVs etc., which will reduce its cost even more. After all the subsidies and discounts, the on-road price of the Tigor EV gets even lower but the Tigor remains ahead of the CNG in terms of pricing.
Features and Safety
Both the Tata Tigor ICNG and the EV come with ample features like projector headlight, digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay etc. Along with this, in terms of safety, many airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control etc. have been given. It comes with 4-star safety rating.
The Tata Tigor is a good alternative to both the CNG and EV petrol models. However, if you can compromise on the driving experience, then the Tigor CNG is the right choice. However, if better driving experience and budget are not a problem then the Tigor EV is a better option.
