Tata Motors has announced the addition of a new car – the Tata Tiago EV to its electric vehicle (EV) lineup. Without disclosing the launch date, the company has confirmed with the announcement that the country will soon get a new affordable electric car. Currently the Tata Tiago (ICE version) hatchback is the car sold in the affordable segment. Tata showed the Tiago EV at the Auto Expo 2018 but the car was not launched yet.
On the occasion of World EV Day 2022, Tata Motors has announced that the company will launch the new Tiago EV in the coming times. Tata Motors currently has Nexon EV and Tigor EV in its EV fleet. Certainly like the ICE version, the Tiago EV will be the company’s cheapest electric car in the portfolio.
As we mentioned, Tata Motors had showcased the Tiago EV hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo, but the company first launched the Nexon EV compact SUV and the Tigor EV compact sedan.
At present, the company has not given any information about the specifications of the Tiago EV, but we are expecting that the company will use Ziptron technology in this car like the current lineup. In terms of design too, it could be similar to the current ICE version with a few changes, as we have seen in the Nexon EV and Tigor EV.
Apart from this, let us tell you that on the occasion of World EV Day, Mahindra also presented its Tata Nexon EV Rival in front of the world – XUV400 introduced to. Its launch can happen during January 2023. This electric car will give a tremendous long range of 456 km and its top speed is said to be 150 kmph.
