Tata Motors has long been planning to launch the CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor in India. The company has now officially announced their launch date. These can be pre-booked by paying a refundable token amount of Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000, depending on the dealership.
Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG have been awaited in India for a long time. This will be the first Tata car in the country to have a CNG powertrain. Currently, the Tata Tiago and Tigor get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This motor generates power of 84.8 hp and peak torque of 113 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and also gets an optional 5-speed AMT.
The upcoming CNG versions of the Tata Tiago and Tigor are expected to get a de-tuned variant of the 1.2-litre petrol motor. Apart from this, the engine will only be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Also, it is worth noting that when launched, the Tata Tigor will be the only sedan in India that will be available in three different powertrains, petrol, CNG and electric versions.
