1. Tata Nexon/Tigor EV
Tata Motors is selling the Nexon EV and Tigor EV in its electric passenger vehicle lineup in India. The company has sold 2,747 units of electric cars in August 2022, registering a growth of 377 percent. In August last year, the company was able to sell only 575 units. With this sales figure, Tata Motors holds 86 per cent share in the passenger electric car segment.
2. MG ZS EV
While Tata Motors’ electric car sales registered a growth of over 350 percent last month, MG Motor’s electric car sales were down 17.51 percent. In August 2022, MG Motor managed to sell only 311 units of the ZS EV as compared to 377 units sold in the same month last year.
3. Hyundai Kona EV
Hyundai Kona EV was the third best selling car in India. In August 2022, Kona EV registered a growth of 475 per cent registering sales of 69 units. In August 2022, the company had sold only 12 units. Hyundai accounts for 2.13 percent of the electric car market in India.
4. BYD E6
BYD has sold 44 units of the E6 electric SUV in August 2022. The sales of the company within a year of making its India debut is astonishing. BYD is preparing to bring a new electric SUV in India soon. It is said that the company is going to launch the Eto3 electric SUV being sold in the global markets in India.
5. BMW IX/i4
BMW is selling two of its electric vehicles in India, the IX/i4 electric SUV. Last month, the company sold 22 units in the domestic market. BMW IX is made available in India at a starting price of Rs 1.16 Cr ex-showroom.
6. Mahindra e-Verito
Mahindra e-Verito is the only electric car from the company that has been made available for commercial use. In August 2022, 17 units of Mahindra e-Verito have been sold which is only 1 unit more than the sales of the same month last year. Mahindra e-Verito comes with a proven range of 110 kms.
7. Audi e-tron
Audi sold 13 units of the e-tron luxury electric SUV last month. This is 3 units more than the 10 units sold in August 2021. The company has achieved 30 percent growth in sales in the last month. The Audi e-tron is available in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.01 crore.
8. Porsche Taycan EV
Porsche Taycan EV is also selling well in India. The company has sold 7 units of Taycan EV in a month. This luxury sports EV has been made available in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.53 crore ex-showroom. The price of its top variant goes up to Rs 2.34 crore.
9. Mercedes-Benz EQC
Mercedes-Benz EQC has sold only 4 units in the last month. However, the company has registered a growth of 100 percent as the company sold 2 units in August 2021. The Mercedes-Benz EQC is made available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 99.50 Lakh. It is available in only one variant.
10. Other Electric Cars
Other electric car models available in the Indian market, which sold a total of 7 units in August last year, have not registered a single unit sales in the last month.
