Tata Motors starts vehicle scrapping plant, will recycle 15,000 vehicles every year

Tata Motors Vehicle Scrapping Facility: Tata Motors has inaugurated its first vehicle scrapping (recycling) plant. The company has started this scrapping plant in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. It is developed and operated by Tata Motors partner Ganganagar Vehicle Industries Pvt. This scrapping plant was inaugurated by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

According to official information, the capacity of this plant is to recycle 15,000 vehicles every year. At the inauguration ceremony of the plant, Nitin Gadkari said, “The National Vehicle Scrapping Policy has been introduced with the aim of promoting circular economy. Phase-out of unserviceable and polluting vehicles and replacing them with more fuel-efficient vehicles in the country. The goal is to reduce the low carbon.”

Gadkari congratulated Tata Motors for setting up this scrapping plant and said that it is at par with global standards. “We are working towards establishing India as a vehicle scrapping hub for the entire South Asian region and there is a need for more such state-of-the-art scrapping and recycling units in India,” he added.

According to Tata Motors, the scrapping facility will follow world-class and eco-friendly processes for safe and sustainable disposal of scrapped vehicles. Developed and operated in association with Ganganagar Vehicle Industries, the plant will scrap passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands.

This vehicle scrapping plant of Tata Motors has been kept completely paperless. The company says that here separate compartments have been made to safely remove the battery, tyre, fuel, liquid, glass, gas cylinder and other components of the vehicles.

Before the scrapping process begins, the passenger and commercial vehicles are documented as per the SOP procedure. Only after this they are sent for dismantling process.
