Tata Punch: Tata Motors has started testing the Punch Electric Mini SUV in the country. Recently it has been spotted with full cover for the first time. Although its official launch date and details have not been revealed yet, it is likely to be launched in the second half of 2023 i.e. around the festive season. Some important details about it are as follows.
powertrain
Similar to Tata’s other EVs, the Punch Electric comprises a permanent magnet synchronous motor with Ziptron technology and a battery pack. Many battery pack options can be found in this mini EV. The powertrain with Tata Tigor EV can be seen in it. Which comes with a 26kWh liquid-cooled battery pack and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. This motor generates 55kW (74bhp) power and 170Nm torque.
According to some media reports, the powertrain with Tiago EV can be found in Tata Punch Electric SUV. In which two powertrain setups are available, in which a 19.2kWh battery pack with an electric motor generating 74bhp power and a 24kWh battery pack with an electric motor generating 61bhp power are available. It gets a range of 250km and 315km respectively.
features
The prototype of the Tata Punch Electric looks similar to its petrol counterpart. However, instead of the rear drum brake of its regular model, rear disc brake can be seen in it. The rest of the features on the Punch EV including driver selectors and an electronic parking brake are likely to be found on the petrol model. In which 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, flat bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control are available.
who will compete
The Tata Punch electric SUV can have a range of around 300km per charge. It will compete with the Citroën eC3, which offers a range of 320km per charge.
