Tata Motors holds 87% share in the 11 months of FY 2022 and has 21,500 electric cars of the company running on the road so far. Earlier, the company had delivered 101 electric cars in a single day to individual customers in Aurangabad. This is the first phase of delivery of 250 electric cars ordered under the Mission Green Mobility campaign being run in Aurangabad. This consignment of electric cars includes 70 units of Nexon EV and 31 units of Tigor EV.
Tata Motors, along with other Tata group companies such as Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Auto Components, Tata Motors Finance and Croma, are working together to accelerate the penetration and adoption of electric vehicles in India through the Tata Universe ecosystem. The Tata Nexon EV is an SUV based on the company’s Ziptron technology. It uses a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is of IP67 standard and comes with waterproof feature. This SUV gives a drive range of 312 km on a full charge. The SUV is powered by a permanent magnet electric motor producing 129 bhp. This car can achieve 0-100 kmph in just 9.58 seconds.
Tata Motors offers the Nexon EV with a 3.3 kW onboard charger that can fully charge the battery in eight hours. At the same time, using a 25 kW DC fast charger, it can be charged up to 0-80 percent in just 60 minutes. It is currently the best selling electric car in the country and a longer range variant is to be launched soon.
Talking about the Tata Tigor EV, this is the second electric car based on the company’s Ziptron technology. The Tigor EV is powered by a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack of IP67 rating. With this a 55 kW electric motor has been connected. The Tigor EV offers a range of 306 kms on a full charge.
The Tigor EV can be charged up to 80 percent in just 1 hour with a fast charger, while it takes 7-8 hours to charge with a normal charger. The Tigor EV delivers 74 Bhp of power along with 170 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. Tata Nexon EV comes with 5 star and Tigor EV 4 star safety rating.
Tata Motors is ruling the electric vehicle segment in the Indian market and has made its presence felt. Despite this, the company is bringing new vehicles, at present there is not a single company to compete with Tata Motors.
