Tata Motors, one of the largest automobile companies in the country, has become the second largest car seller company in the last month i.e. December 2022. The company registered sales of over 40,043 units as against sales of 35,299 units in December 2021, an annual growth of 13.44 per cent. However, it faced a 13 percent decline in sales month-on-month. The Indian automobile company took the second spot in the bestseller list leaving Hyundai behind. South Korean automobile company Hyundai at number three in the list registered sales of 38,831 units in December 2022.
Worth noting is that Tata Motors 2022 has been very good for the company as the company sold more than 5 lakh units. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Passenger Vehicles Division, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, “Calendar year 2022 has been a stellar year as we have shattered all previous records and registered sales of over 5 lakh units. The figure has been crossed, comprising sales of 5,26,798 units.
Maruti Suzuki India has retained the top spot in this list in India. However, the end of the year was very bad for the Indian auto maker. The company sold 1,13,535 units last month as against 1,26,031 units in December 2021, which was 9.91 percent lower. The company had adjusted production to reduce dealer inventory.
Overall domestic passenger car sales in 2022 increased by 23 percent to a record 37.93 lakh units which Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai And with companies like Tata Motors. During this time the companies achieved this target due to the increasing demand for SUVs despite the pandemic issues and chip shortage. Other manufacturers including Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Skoda India registered record sales in 2022 as compared to 35,299 units sold in December 2021.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor said dealer deliveries for December 2022 declined by 3.8 per cent to 10,421 vehicles. In a statement by Toyota Kirloskar Motor, it reported wholesale sales of 10,834 units in December 2021. Total wholesale sales in 2022 see a growth of 23 percent from 1,30,768 units in 2021 to 1,60,357 units in 2022.
