A Tamil Nadu couple on Sunday hosted a first-of-its-kind wedding reception in India. That’s why this reception was special. Because, it was organized in the metaverse. That is, an online world of virtual people was kept at this reception. The special thing is that in this the late father of the bride also blessed the couple.

The couple Dinesh SP and Janaganandini Ramaswamy got married in Shivalingapuram, a small tribal village in Tamil Nadu. However, the wedding reception in the virtual world was attended by friends and family from all over the world.

Dinesh said in his statement to news agency ANI that I have been associated with Blockchain, NFTs and Technology for the last few years. I always do my things in a unique way and I wanted the events of my life to be memorable. Being techies, we see every problem and try to find its solution through programming language.

The theme of this reception held in the Metaverse was Harry Potter’s Hogwarts. Because both are Harry Potter fans. A startup called TardiVerse worked hard for about a month for this reception with Metaverse. In this virtual world, Dinesh also decided to create a dedicated avatar for Janaganandini’s late father and this avatar blessed the couple.

Dinesh said that giving importance to his wife, a realistic 3D virtual avatar of his late father was created in NFT. So that his wife can feel her father’s presence in the Metverse and he can bless both of us.

Videos and photos of this reception are now going viral on social media. It was called Asia’s first metaverse wedding. It was attended by about 6,000 people from all over the world. In a conversation with IndianExpress, Dinesh told that the event was sponsored by Coinswitch and his local vendor had delivered food to the guest’s house.
