Over time, Bird’s interpretation of these tracks lost popularity. An alternative hypothesis explains such finds as follows: the front legs of the dinosaurs were much heavier than the hind ones, so only they left prints on the surface.
Recently, researchers have found new such tracks. Scientists admitted that they could not reliably explain the nature of the prints. The hypothesis of uneven pressure may be correct, but the version with walking on the front legs cannot be ruled out. Perhaps sauropods moved in such an exotic way through shallow bodies of water.
