LIC

The government has given permission to Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to achieve 25 percent minimum public shareholding (MPS) within 10 years. The country’s largest insurance company LIC was listed in May 2022. The government had sold more than 22.13 crore shares or 3.5 percent stake in LIC through Initial Public Offering (IPO). At present the government has 96.5 percent stake in the company.

Airtel

Telecom company Bharti Airtel has entered into a strategic partnership with IntelliSmart Infrastructure to connect two crore smart meters to the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT). The implementation of this project is expected to be completed in the next 10 years. Airtel said in the statement that this marks Airtel’s entry into cloud and analytics as well as smart metering applications such as head end systems.

Suzlon

Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has received the contract from KP Group to develop a 193.2 MW wind power project in Gujarat. The new order for KP Group to develop a 193.2 MW wind power project will be part of the wind-solar hybrid and STU (State Transmission Utility) tariff-based project to increase renewable energy contribution in Gujarat, Suzlon Group said in a statement.

Ashok Leyland

Leading commercial vehicle company Ashok Leyland has received an order for supply of 552 buses from Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). The company said that ‘Ultra Low Entry’ (ULE) buses will be used for public transport. Ashok Leyland has been supplying buses to TMSTC for a long time. It has so far supplied about 18,477 buses to the corporation.

GMR Airports Infrastructure

GMR Airports Infrastructure’s subsidiary GMR Airports entered into a binding agreement with National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to invest Rs 675 crore in the upcoming airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh. This is NIIF’s second investment in GMR Airport after the investment in Goa International Airport.

MOIL

State-owned manganese ore miner MOIL announced on December 20 that production will cross 16 lakh tonnes in CY2023. The company said that this figure is 26 percent more than the previous highest level of 2019.
