Steam blocked in China

Chinese players cannot visit the digital store or community pages. Most likely, the site was blocked by local authorities. In February 2021, a local version of Steam was launched in China. Only games that have been verified by a government commission are “allowed” into it. There are not many such games so far – 68. Among them are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. There are many more games in the global version of Steam – thousands.

Earlier, GitHub was blocked in China. And in the country, publishers are forced to ensure control over the time that children spend in games. Children can play no more than three hours a week.
