Colombo Gazette gave information
World Bank Vice President Hartwig Schaefer held talks with Sri Lanka’s Finance Minister Ali Sabri in Washington on Tuesday, Colombo Gazette reported on Wednesday. Sabri is in the US for the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

World Bank is worried
The report said that Sabri and Schaefer discussed measures to address the economic crisis, support for stabilization and protect vulnerable sections. Schaefer said the World Bank is deeply concerned about the impact of the crisis on the poor and vulnerable and is ready to provide emergency help for medicines, health supplies, nutrition and education.

Sri Lankan President admits mistake
Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has admitted that he made mistakes that plunged the country into its worst economic crisis in decades. The President also resolved to rectify his mistakes. Rajapaksa on Monday formed a new cabinet of 17 ministers, in which his brother Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only member from his family. The President admitted his mistake before the new cabinet.
