Spotify launched educational courses in its application For UK users

Streaming service Spotify has introduced a new content category for its UK users – online courses. Alongside music, podcasts, and audiobooks, users now have access to video lessons from BBC Maestro, Skillshare, Thinkific, and PlayVirtuoso. Currently, this experiment is exclusive to the UK, with no information available regarding its expansion.

The materials are divided into four categories: music creation, creativity, business, and healthy lifestyle. While users can access some video lessons for free, full access requires payment. It’s worth noting that users cannot make course payments within the app due to Apple and Google fees, so they must utilize the Spotify website for transactions.

Spotify representatives assure that all courses will adhere to the service’s rules and policies. Additionally, users will have the option to report any content they deem as violating the rules.

Experts speculate that this new content category could serve as an additional incentive for users to subscribe to a paid plan. Spotify purportedly plans to include access to online courses in its premium subscription package, alongside audiobook listening capabilities and advanced track mixing tools.
